What we collect
- Your email address, to make your account and email you about it.
- Your password, stored only as a salted hash: nobody, including us, can read it.
- Purchases: the course, amount, date and Stripe's reference for the payment. Card details go to Stripe, never to us.
- Access codes you redeem.
- Feedback messages you send, with the page and section you were on.
- Basic usage analytics: page views counted by Cloudflare Web Analytics, without cookies or cross-site tracking.
- Security records: failed sign-ins and emails sent, with a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, to stop password guessing and spam.
One cookie keeps you signed in. Your saved progress in the guides stays in your own browser and is never sent to us.
Why
To run your account and open the courses you bought or unlocked; to send the emails you need (confirming your email, resetting your password, purchase confirmations); to handle refunds and support; to fix mistakes you report; and to keep the site safe from abuse. We don't sell personal information.
Service providers
We use Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting, database and analytics) and Resend (sending email). Some of them store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
We only send emails about your account and purchases. We don't send marketing email; if we ever do, we will ask first, as Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) requires.
How long we keep it
Account information stays while your account exists. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Security records are short-lived. To delete your account, email us.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it: email the privacy contact above. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
